Have you ever wondered how much it actually costs to fully furnish a room in your house? If so, you’re not alone. And whether you end up hiring a designer or not, you’ll most likely go into your project with a maximum number you have to spend. But is that number realistic in relation to your design goals?
That’s where my Budget Guide comes in (download your free copy here!). I’m so excited to share this guide that I’ve created with you! This guide will help take the guess work out of how much you will actually need for your next renovation or home refresh.
So how does it work?
Simply focus your budget on a room by room basis and use the guide to help you decide where to start in terms of priorities for each room (ie, in the living room the most important piece of furniture is the sofa. It gets the most use and therefore needs to be of higher durability and quality, so focus the bulk of your budget for the living room on the sofa first), and where you fit in the spectrum of low, medium, or high price points. This part becomes important when deciding where to shop for new furniture.
Don’t get too stuck on which price point you fall under, however, as the guide is meant to give you nice round numbers to plug into your own budget. Every home is different, so every project is different. Some people may have existing pieces they want to keep and will only need a few new things for each room.
Also, as I’ve explained in the guide, the numbers are averaged but are on the high side as it’s normal to end up over budget on a design project, especially when there’s construction involved. With this in mind, the numbers in the guide will give you a nice cushion in the event unexpected items come up (because they often do!).
Still not sure about your budget?
Don’t worry! Your designer will know what to do. Simply having a maximum number you can spend will go a long way in narrowing down what items to prioritize and where to shop for your project.
