Now that you understand the basics of color and you’ve chosen a color palette for your home (or room), I wanted to talk about some simple ways to add color to any space.
Use Accessories
Utilizing items that are easily switched out or replaced every few years (or even with each season) is an easy way to incorporate color into your space. Using throw pillows and blankets, rugs, curtains, art, vases, etc. is a fun way to experiment with color and even switching out a rug can make a big impact.
Add an Accent Wall
Whether you just want to paint a solid color, add some trim or moulding, or use wallpaper (or all three!), there are great options out there for adding an accent wall to a room. (And so much inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram!) But you’re not limited to adding an accent to a wall. Don’t forget your ceiling (a fun spot for wallpaper), floor, and spots like kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Simply repainting your kitchen cabinetry can feel like walking into a new home!
Go Big!
There are many options here. You could do a combination of the first two options, adding in accent walls as well as accessories. You could also paint all the walls and add bold color with some of the larger pieces of furniture such as the sofa or the bed in a bedroom. The above room is a great example of using bold colors on the furniture and accessories as well as adding color to the walls.
Still not sure how you’d like to add color to your space? A great way to visualize and test out possible colors is to use 3D renderings. Contact me to get started on designing your dream space now!
